In 2012 Derbigum took over Vaeplan. In Germany Vaeplan has built up for decades a solid reputation as producer of high-end VAE synthetic roofing of which the durability has proven itself in practice. These synthetic membranes are marketed under the name VAEPLAN®.
These membranes are made with the VAESTOMERE-technology. This technology is based on a unique mix of copolymers, the acrylic polymers being chemically bonded to the vinyl structure. This molecular combination of vinyl with acrylic polymers results in a highly flexible and stable rubber copolymer.
The Vaestomere-technology can count on more than 40 years of experience and has proven during this time to maintain the durability of the technical caracteristics.

RELIABLE WELDINGS
The weldings are as strong as the material itself. During the welding, either with hot air or with the cold welding agent, a molecular fusion takes place in the overlap: the best guarantee for a reliable and longlasting waterproofing of the joints.
SIMPLE REPAIRS ANDADJUSTMENTS
The welding of older Vaeplan waterproofing membranes is, even after more than 30 years, still possible and trouble-free. This has been verified and confirmed by recent durability studies by the MPA Braunschweig. An essential advantage in case of repairs, conversions or extensions.
NO SEPARATION LAYERS
The Vaeplan roofing membranes are compatible with bitumen, any insulation material (PUR, PIR, PSE,...) and old PVC roofing membranes. No need for a separation layer means important savings, both in material and application costs.
ADDED VALUE FOR YOUR ROOF
Standard colours are grey and white, but special colours are also available. The general neat appearance and the refined finishing of the details thanks to accessories and skill, allows us to speak of a “clean roof”.
FIREPROOF
Besides the necessary fire tests Broof (t1), (t2), (t3),… , in case of fire, the self-extinguishing property of the Vaeplan membranes is of vital importance.
ANTI-ROOT
Vaeplan roofing membranes are intrinsically anti-root. In combination with the homogenous overlaps, it offers the best guarantee for the waterproofing of green roofs. Environment + Recycling Vaeplan is entirely recyclable. The excess start-up material is completely re-introduced in the production of new batches. Material can also be collected on the jobsite and returned. Vaeplan is especially suitable for the collection and re-use of rainwater, it even has a potable water certificate of the German Nehring Institute.
RESISTANT AGAINST CHEMICALS & PHYSICAL IMPACT
Contrary to other synthetic membranes, Vaeplan is not only resistant to e.g. oils, greases, etc but also to a long list of chemical products. The homogenous composition of the membrane, in combination with the polyester lining, gives it a high resistance to physical impact and other possible damages.
PROVEN DURABILITY OF 40 YEARS
The specific composition on a Vinyl Acryl Ester base and the copolymerisation techniques guarantee a durable flexibility so no ageing due to plasticizer migration will occur. Independent durability studies (MPA Braunschweig) on 30 to 40- year old roofs have proven this.
