Several of our products have been subjected to the Life Cycle Analysis (LCA), under the supervision of a group of experts. The LCA, also known as the Cradle-to-Cradle Analysis, uses a work and calculation method determined by the ISO 14040 standard. The purpose of this analysis is to determine the impact of a product on the environment by looking at the different phases of life: the production of the resources, the production of the product itself, the transport, the use and the end of life of the product.
The results of the impact of the products were subjected to ECOBILAN, a division of the sustainability department of PriceWaterhouseCoopers, who controlled the data.
In 2008, DERBIGUM received the “Best Innovator Award Belgium” of AT Kearney and Partners. This is an award for SME’s, and large companies in 12 European countries, The United States, Canada and Mexico. DERBIGUM won the award in the category “SME” because of the development of innovative products for sustainable building and energy management, combined with an intensive recycling program for resources.
